Four Seasons Maui Review

Close your eyes. Now imagine you’re in paradise, listening to the sound of the ocean with a fruity cocktail in your hand. The sun is shining, the palm trees are swaying, and there are beautiful people and views everywhere. You don’t have a care in the world as you take in the distant sound of a ukulele and the smell of tropical flowers. Add a five-star resort to the mix, and you have found yourself at Four Seasons Maui at Wailea, one of our favorite places in all of Hawaii.

Four Seasons Maui

Unlike other big resorts in the area, the Four Seasons doesn’t have to try too hard to be impressive. This is perhaps one of its best selling points. Everyone is calm and there are no frantic vacationers trying to find their way to the pool. Everything is perfectly accessible, convenient, relaxing and beautiful. Read our full review of the property below to see what you can expect when you reach resort heaven.

Serenity Pool

Our tour of the property began with the Serenity Pool. It is an adults-only pool that is reserved for guests 21 years of age and older. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing day outdoors, then this is the spot for you. The infinity pool comes with unparalleled panoramic views of Wailea Beach, the West Maui Mountains, and the neighboring island of Lanai. Grab a complimentary pool lounge chair or reserve one of the six luxury cabanas. Some of their cabanas can include a flat-screen TV, a mini-bar with champagne, wireless headsets, a safe, a couch, and a ceiling fan.

Guests who enjoy listening to music by the pool should dive under the water, where they’ll hear the specially designed underwater music system. Grab a cocktail at the gorgeous swim-up pool bar or hop in one of the two jacuzzis and treat yourself to a day of resort bliss.

The Four Seasons has added two new private, Missoni-designed cabanas that look across the pool and out to the ocean. They are the height of luxury, with ceiling and floor fans, lounge sofas by the TV, fruit platter, two menu items, a bottle of bubbly, robes, and much more. Please note that they must be reserved at the time of booking.

Keiki Pool

While watching your children enjoy sand for the first time is so much fun, it’s not quite as much fun to clean it off after. Enter the Keiki Pool, complete with a waterfall, slide, and pool toys. There are complementary amenities as well, like chilled towels, sunscreen, aloe vera, and even frozen cherries passed out by the fantastic pool attendants. If that’s not worth avoiding a mouth full of sand, we don’t know what is.

03

Fountain Pool

What a pool! This pool is everything you could dream of and then some. Heated perfectly to a comfy 82°F (28°C), the Fountain Pool offers 80 feet of pure relaxation. This Four Seasons Maui pool has whirlpools, poolside food and beverage services, and complimentary pool cabanas for you and your family and friends. If the urge arises, guests can even enjoy a cooling Evian spritz, cucumber slices for their eyes, and poolside spa treatments to help them decompress.

04

Oceanfront Lawn

Just past the Serenity Pool, the Oceanfront Lawn is the perfect place to post up in a hammock and let the warm ocean breeze work its magic. For those looking to have their wedding on Maui, the lawn also doubles as the ideal spot for dreamy ceremonies and receptions. You just can’t beat the panoramic Pacific Ocean views and gorgeous South Maui sunsets here.

Those planning to attend the Maui Film Festival should make sure to not miss the Taste of Chocolate. It’s a chocolate lover’s dream come true, and is held right on the Oceanfront Lawn.

Wailea Beach

No Maui resort is complete without a picturesque beach to pair with it. Wailea Beach is one of our favorite family-friendly options. It is a sprawling oasis of turquoise water, golden sand, spectacular views, and warm sunshine. Catch some shade in one of the many complimentary chaise lounge beach chairs, a refreshing change from other resorts that require deposits for them.

This shallow and sandy-bottomed beach is great for small children and older members of the family due to its calm nature. At the Four Seasons Maui beach, guests can take advantage of so many daily activities. There are underwater scooters, introductory reef diving, offsite diving, Rebreather & Nitrox diving, night diving, and more. Guests can also enjoy snorkeling gear rentals for a small fee, and in-pool beginner scuba lessons. Of course, massage services in one of the three available ocean-front hales are a great idea for a truly relaxing treat.

Wailea Beach at the Four Seasons Maui Resort is one of the best places to watch the sunset in Maui. It is also one of the best places to on-shore whale watch during the North Pacific humpback whale migration to Maui each winter. Even if you don’t stay here, make sure to have dinner at one of their excellent restaurants around sunset time. You are sure to be more than pleased with your meal and left in awe of Maui’s grandeur. Of course you can catch some incredible photo opportunities as well!
