Colleen’s at the Cannery

Haiku

Suppose you wake up one day in Haiku and wonder where you should go for coffee. No worries, brah! You have to get over to Colleen’s at the Haiku Marketplace. You will be glad that you found this Haiku gem, and will soon realize that you are drinking the best cup of Joe to be had on the north shore. With a fresh and caffeinated morning perspective, your people-watching skills will be turned up to the max. Before you know it, you’ll be ready for a day of lounging and exploring Maui’s North Shore.

Some top choices on the breakfast menu at Colleen’s are the traditional Cannery Breakfast, French Toast, and the Haiku BLT. They also have a wide variety of Eggs Benedicts, an Organic Tofu Vegetable Wrap, and much more. One of our all-time favorites is the Hangover Cure. It’s a mélange of black forest ham, oven-roasted potatoes, jack and cheddar cheeses, onions, and green chiles all sautéed together.

We love that Colleen’s uses local ingredients whenever they can. Their breakfast smoothies are delicious, and the Cannery Bloody Mary is the bomb! Don’t forget to say “Mahalo!” to your server on the way out!

Colleen’s also offers Lunch, Happy Hour, and Dinner Service. Next door is Colleen’s Bar, which is a great place to enjoy a pau hana with friends or meet up for a late-night cocktail.

Kula Bistro

Upcountry

Kula Bistro is in Kula, across the street from Morihara’s Store. For Maui residents, it’s in the exact location as Cafe 808 used to be. There are some good vibes to be had here!

On top of offering one of the most bangin’ breakfasts on Maui, the Kula Bistro also has a delicious lunch and dinner menu. Please note that Kula Bistro is BYOB. Guests are invited to bring their own beer and wine into the restaurant. Just wait to open it until you are inside the restaurant though, as no open bottles or cans are allowed in. Luckily for visitors, Morihara’s is right across the street, so you can buy a bottle or a six-pack and walk over to the Bistro.

Aside from their incredible menu and large portions, one of the best things about Kula Bistro is the atmosphere. Super chill vibes, friendly and attentive service, and lots of alohas are served here!

The choices for breakfast here at Kula Bistro are aplenty! The menu is split up into Benedicts, Frittatas, Local Favorites, French Toast & Pancakes, and many tasty side dishes. We love the Mahi Mahi Benedict, the Snow Crab & Spinach Frittata, and we just adore the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Pancakes.

Another great part of dining at Kula Bistro is that it means supporting local Maui farms and vendors. This is a prime Maui restaurant that serves up healthy portions and celebrates the Maui community. You just can’t go wrong here!

Please check their website for the most up-to-date hours (currently, they are closed for breakfast on Mondays).

Baked On Maui

Haiku

Located in the Pauwela Cannery, Baked On Maui is a quaint Haiku coffee shop and cafe. This is a great Maui spot to grab some breakfast or lunch and check out the local scenery in a hip environment. Just steps away from Baked on Maui are some surfboard shaper studios, retail vendors, art galleries, a hardware store, a small organic grocery, and more. We love that they have outdoor seating, so you can easily meet up with friends for a meal in the shade or just sit outside with your laptop and a latte. (Hey, Maui residents, they are also dog-friendly!)

Baked on Maui freshly bakes all of their bread and pastries. It gives off such an authentic feel and makes all of their meals that much yummier.

Some favorites on the breakfast menu are the Omelets, French Toast with Strawberry Compote, and Smoked Salmon Benedict. If you’re in a rush, you can stop in for a to-go order or grab some espresso drinks and pastries. The ham and cheese croissant is excellent, and no trip to Baked on Maui is complete unless you pick up a sweet treat or a loaf of their homemade bread.

At Baked on Maui, you can also pick up some cool merch. If you want to find a truly unique Maui souvenir, grab a bag of their CBD coffee beans. They come in three different strengths, 4mg, 10mg and 20mg, and are perfect for those who love a nice dark roast.

Ka’ana Kitchen

South Maui

Ka’ana Kitchen can be found at the Andaz Resort in Wailea. You just can’t go wrong here with gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean and a yummy breakfast menu.

This Maui breakfast spot is unique as it features all farm-fresh Maui foods. From the meats to the produce, cheeses to cured fish and eggs, and baked goods to pastries, you will be delighted by a true Maui-born menu. Ka’ana Kitchen is a great place to go for the holidays, family celebrations, birthday brunches, or just a romantic table for two.

We do have to say that the breakfast menu at Ka’ana Kitchen is somewhat short. That’s not to disparage the divine offerings of these selections at all, though. We’d rather say that it’s just streamlined, modern-gourmet, and to the point!

Our favorites for breakfast at Ka’ana Kitchen are the Kalua Pork Benedict (served with a ponzu hollandaise and heirloom tomato salad), the Breakfast Bruschetta, Poached Eggs, and Sweet Potato Cake. The Waffles here are top-notch and come served with caramelized bananas, coconut creme, and Nutella.
